Excerpts from the Article:

Located within the Saysettha Comprehensive Development Zone, Best Garment (Laos) Co., Ltd.'s factory covers an area of over 20,000 square meters. Stepping into the workshop, reporters saw local employees working diligently on production lines to manufacture garments for export to Europe.

Sun Linhua, General Manager of Best Garment (Laos) Co., Ltd., told reporters, "We have introduced advanced automated cutting machines, computerized   sewing equipment, and other facilities. With 25 Chinese management staff providing training and guidance, we've adopted lean production management and manufacturing execution systems, striving to build a top-tier garment factory in Laos."

Best Garment Group, headquartered in Jiangsu, China, had previously established factories in Yangon, Myanmar, and Kampong Speu Province, Cambodia. Two years ago, the group came to Laos and set up a factory in the Saysettha Comprehensive Development Zone. The factory has built 40 production lines, employs 2,000 workers, and has a designed annual production capacity of 20 million sets of various knitted garments, with products sold to markets in Europe, the United States, and Japan.

Lida, a Lao employee from Xayaboury Province in northwestern Laos, had never been exposed to modern production equipment before joining the factory. However, she quickly mastered the operation techniques through training. "Working here comes with job security. We get meal subsidies, and the company covers the costs of dormitory accommodation and utilities. After setting aside some pocket money, I can send most of my salary back home. I hope Xayaboury will also have such modern factories in the future," said Lida.

The Saysettha Comprehensive Development Zone is functionally positioned as a "One City, Four Zones" model – namely, a new industrial eco-city for Vientiane, a carrier zone for international production capacity cooperation, a demonstration zone for China-Laos cooperative development, a core zone of Vientiane's new urban area, and a livable zone featuring harmonious living environments. Currently, the zone has attracted 131 enterprises from multiple countries and regions including China, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand, with total investments exceeding USD 1.5 billion and employing 6,000 workers. Once all currently settled enterprises reach full production capacity, the zone is projected to generate an annual output value exceeding USD 1.8 billion and create over 10,000 job opportunities.

Joint ventures such as the China-Laos Railway Co., Ltd., Bede Garment (Laos) Co., Ltd., Lao-Union Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd., and New Hope (Laos) Co., Ltd. carry the hopes of Laos' industrialization. "The development zone has attracted a number of renowned enterprises, helping Laos fill gaps in multiple manufacturing sectors—including electronics manufacturing, biopharmaceuticals, agricultural product processing, and textile processing—while significantly boosting the country’s industrial development,"said Tonglor, Director of the Investment Service Center at the Saysettha Comprehensive Development Zone.
